PageDesk 0.30.0 release notes

PageDesk 0.30.0 — October 26, 2026

New: photo cleanup for image-only pages; nested bookmarks; additional Word
export modes; guided redaction suggestions; resumable batch processing; and
page protection during compression. Existing printing/scanning and navigation
stabilization remain included.

Original-text editing is available as an experimental tool in Markups. It
supports one native text run and refuses unsupported fonts, characters or
layouts. It is not paragraph reflow or editing words in a scanned photograph.
Add Text remains available for adding new text.

Photo cleanup refuses pages containing native text, forms or annotations to
avoid flattening existing edits. Suggested page corners need review.

Redaction suggestions can miss sensitive information. Inspect each match and
review the entire resulting PDF before sharing. The redacted copy flattens all
pages and removes searchable text and interactive forms. Keep a separate original.

Editable Word exports do not guarantee identical layout. Appearance-only export
creates page images rather than editable text. Compression protects selected
pages and shared images; this can prevent a requested output size being reached.

Batch job records contain file paths, hashes and processing settings. Protect
the job folder. Completed files must remain unchanged for resume verification;
changed input files need a new job. Re-select a stamp when resuming a stamp job.

Updating: close PageDesk, back up important PDFs and signature images, and run
the new Windows installer. This direct installer uses the existing PageDesk
profile. The separate Development preview keeps its own settings.

This release passed 389 automated tests during acceptance, packaged-app checks,
and isolated Windows install/upgrade/uninstall tests. Office printing/scanning
acceptance was carried forward because those core modules are unchanged.
Compatibility still depends on your document, device and Windows driver.

One-time price remains $49.99 USD for one user. Updates made available for the
purchased major release remain subject to the existing license terms.
